Fostering the next generation of problem solvers for Ireland
The Problem-Solving Initiative (PSI) is an ambitious two-year Irish nationwide initiative aimed at enhancing the problem-solving ability of the youth of Ireland.
The PSI will promote career pathways in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) for those who enjoy solving problems. It will raise public awareness of the importance of problem-solving skills across science, the economy and society.
Irish people of all ages are encouraged to hone their lateral-thinking skills with exciting puzzles and mind-bending challenges.
The programme of events includes the hugely successful All Ireland Linguistics Olympiad (AILO) contest for secondary school students.
The Problem-Solving Initiative will culminate in a weeklong problem-solving festival from 31 July to 5 August 2017. This includes Ireland’s hosting of the International Linguistics Olympiad 2017. 180 of the world’s top young problem-solvers from 35 countries will compete at Dublin City University. The programme will conclude with a family problem-solving festival day at Dublin Castle.
